Do I need to repeat Stem Cell Therapy? If yes, how often? It depends on both the disease itself and the patient’s response from the first round of cell therapy. For example, if the patient suffers from a genetic degenerative disease and gets obvious improvement from cell therapy, then we will suggest they do a second round of treatment 6 months to 1 year later to consolidate the improvement.
For other neurological diseases, such as CP, brain injury etc. We also suggest patients who got obvious improvement come for a 2nd round of treatment 1-2 years later to promote the improvement. For patients who suffer from some early-stage neuropathy like Parkinson Disease, if the patient's symptoms almost disappear after the first circle of stem cell treatment, then it's not necessary for the patient to come for a second treatment until/unless the disease progresses. Is there a risk of getting an infectious disease from Stem Cell Therapy? The cells we produce at our laboratory undergo several tests for quality control, which include and provide:
1. Safety control of original material: We test for the following infectious diseases of the donor, including HIV, HAV, HBV, HCV, Syphilis etc. All the results must be negative. 2. Filtration of the cultured cell: We filter cells by checking the surface antigen and immunogenicity through inducing cell differentiation and testing FACS regularly. 3. Double checking of safety before clinical use Before we deliver the cells to patients, we do another series of test to avoid infectious disease and cellular mutation. These tests will insure the safety of the cells and media. What is the source of the neural stem cells? The neural stem cells are collected from donor brain tissue and are purified, proliferated and stored as a cell line in the lab.

What types of stem cells do you use in your facility? We use 7 types of stem cells for different conditions:
1. Human fetal neural cells (hNSC): In our clinic, hNSC is applied to treat the patients with Cerebral Palsy, Brain Injury, Stroke, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Batten Diesease, Spinal cord injury, Degenerative Diseases, and other neurological disorders. 2. Human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal cells (hBM-MSC): Clinically, these cells have been identified to significantly improve the conditions of the patients who suffer from autoimmune diseases, nervous system diseases, coronary disease, hematologic malignancy, or graft versus host disease (GVHD). 3. Human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal cells (hUCMSC) : These cells are used clinically as an alternative treatment for hBM-MSC. 4. Human retinal pigment epithelial cells (hRPE): hRPE cell transplantation has been used to treat Parkinson's disease. Pre-clinical studies suggest the safety and effectiveness of human RPE cells as a suitable cell type to serve as a potential durable source of a levodopa producing donor for implantation into the striatum of patients. This stereotactic intrastriatal implantation produced a constant amelioration of patients' Parkinsonians without using any immune suppression. 5. Human insulin producing cells (hIPC, unipotent): Clinical application: Diabetes. 6. Human adipose-derived mesenchymal cells (hAMSC): Clinical application: cosmetic treatment, and as an alternative treatment to bone marrow-MSCs. 7. Human hematopoietic cells (hHSC) : Clinical application: reestablishment of hematopoietic system. What is the success rate of Stem Cell Therapy for Diabetes treatment? The success rate is about 80% at present.
