Provide guidance that matches your needs. For patients managing chronic issues, nutrition can provide important support during treatment, help maximize long-term health restoration, aid in recovery and, in some cases, play a preventative role as well. Health- and weight-conscious people are bombarded with a range of diet and nutritional choices. Very often, these diets are one dimensional and hard to follow because they require drastic change that may not suit the lifestyle of the individual.
Provide guidance that works with you. As the name suggests, “holistic nutrition” takes account of who the patient is. It sees a patient as an individual with personal and cultural preferences, and with family, work and social obligations. That makes holistic nutrition not just prescriptive, but also supportive, teaching and empowering. While a patient is under a physician’s care, nutrition counseling can help treatments work better, may improve outcomes, and, most importantly, can help you feel better!
How Can a Holistic Nutritionist Provide Integrative Wellness Care at Puhua International?
Anti aging: Oxidative stress is a hidden contributor to aging that affects multiple organ systems. Counseling in lifestyle habits and diets that reduce and possibly even eliminate hidden stresses, such as hidden food sensitivities, can help with long-term anti-aging efforts.
Cardiology, Diabetes & Endocrinology: Dietary factors are highly intertwined with the progression of heart, diabetic and endocrine conditions. Patients can be taught how to differentiate between macronutrients, master portion management, time meals and tailor their diets to their individual gene profiles and conditions.
Neurology: Certain diets have been useful in controlling outcomes in some with certain types of seizures. Patients can learn healthy ways to improve their situations with diet. In other degenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, diet may be helpful in the easing of progression.
Cancer: The right diet can help protect healthy cells, reduce side effects from medication, enhance efficacy and sometimes even address resistance to treatments.
Orthopedics, Knee and Hip Regeneration: Diet-aided inflammation management during recovery can help with return to mobility in a shorter time span.

Treatment Modalities
We start with the patient’s goals and current health status. From there we can give you a clearer picture of what you can do nutritionally to meet your goals, or address things that are preventing you from achieving your desired results.
Then we will identify the areas where changes to your diet could have the most impact. Taking it one step at a time, we will focus on the things you really need and leave the distractions aside. The goal is for those changes to become ingrained in your life so that you can build long-term success and achieve a better wellness in your life.
Most importantly, staying in touch with your nutritionist helps provide motivation, support and accountability.
Full Sequence Metabolic DNA Analysis
This takes the individualized approach further. By using gene testing to identify dietary and exercise change goals that you were born with.
The test looks at five locations of the gene (often called ‘loci’) that code for:
Fat absorption
Weight retention
Exercise requirement
Insulin resistance and glucose balance
Nutritional requirements
This test focuses on genetic markers that have the most impact on weight management. It does not evaluate disease markers.
Will it be accurate?
It is at least 99% accurate for those loci in your genes. This is because full sequence analysis is done. Others only do partial sequence called SNP analysis (often pronounced as snip).
To use an analogy, looking at a single loci in your genes is like having to watch a whole movie. SNP analysis is like watching a trailer of that movie and then forming a movie review from that, while full sequencing is taking the time and effort to watch the movie from beginning to end to give a review. The difference as you can imagine is tremendous.
How long will it take?
It takes about 4-5 weeks to get results because it is a full analysis that is done in a certified lab in the United States.
What do we do in the meantime?
Depending on your health status, what we recommend can vary greatly.
For example: Some patients require a diet in the beginning to help their body ease into more permanent change. For others, changes can be incorporated a step at a time, giving the patient and perhaps even the patient’s family to get used to the changes.
Many will require managing of underlying problems that are getting in the way of the desired results even with a genetically ideal diet. Problems such as digestive and absorption issues, hormonal imbalances, detoxification issues or even quenching underlying inflammation should be addressed to enable you to get the most out of diet changes.
