CEREBRAL PALSY
Cerebral Palsy (also known as CP) belongs to a group of congenital disorders that affect one’s ability to move and to maintain balance and posture. It is non-progressive and non-contagious, and is caused by damage to the motor control centers of the developing brain. Some may develop CP during pregnancy; some may get it during childbirth, or after birth up to about the age three. The motor disorders caused by CP are often accompanied with disturbances of cognition, perception, sensation, communication, behavior, and secondary musculoskeletal problems. Seizure disorders are common with CP. Babies with cerebral palsy are often noted to have the problems of being ‘slow’ to sit, roll over, crawl, smile or learn to walk.
There is no cure for CP. However, there are treatments that may improve the symptoms and life quality of patients with CP, such as: cell treatment, braces, medications, and physical/occupational/speech therapy. We combined cell therapy with rehabilitation therapies (includes occupational therapy, physical therapy and traditional Chinese acupuncture) to treat cerebral palsy.
