HISTORY
Patient Mohamed was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes mellitus 2 years prior to the present admission. Patient Mohamed came to Beijing Puhua International Hospital for stem cell treatment in order to achieve better control of his blood sugar, and to thereby reduce his daily medications, as well as to limit the development of diabetic complications.
Medical Condition before Stem Cell Treatment for Type II Diabetes
The patient suffered from high blood sugar, with irritability, sweating and heart palpitations. The medication that he used to control his blood sugar was Glucophage, 850mg, BID. His fasting blood glucose was approximately 114mmol/L, and 2-hour post prandial blood sugar was 166mmol/L.
Stem Cell Therapy over 2 Weeks
After admission, medical protocols were applied including: pancreatic artery interventional therapy (guided intra-arterial injection) of MSCs and 3 intravenous injections of (MSCs), combined with medication to reduce blood sugar and to improve the patient's micro circulation.
Medical Condition after Stem Cell Treatment for Type 2 Diabetes
The patient’s average blood glucose was significantly reduced after the SCT treatment. His average fasting blood sugar was 99mmol/L, and 2-hour post-prandial blood sugar was 125mmol/L. The patient was in better spirits, and his mood was also improved. Further, his need for Glucophage was reduced by 50%, to only one pill (850mg) at night. The patient's diabetes was significantly improved by stem cell therapy.
